Gotcha Day!

On October 30th we celebrated my husband's "Gotcha Day" for the 1st time ever! What is a "Gotcha Day" you may be asking...Good question. It is the day that someone is adopted and their real parents are blessed to get them and vice versa. It is a great day all around. How did we come to learn about this? My daughter watches some Disney shows and on one of them "Jessie," they had an episode called 'Gotcha Day' because the family adopted two of their kiddos. On the show the family not only celebrates their birthdays but a special day commemorating the day they got them and their heritage too! What a way to highlight and show adoption in such a great light and the benefits of being honest with your kiddos that you have adopted or may adopt. My husband's parents were always up front and honest about it with both him and his sister. They have the most wonderful parents, so wonderful I cannot relate to people that have the "In-laws Syndrome," thankfully. So anyway for the past few days my daughter has enlisted myself and my son to help her pull off a special evening of recognition for my husband in honor of his adoption and how blessed we are to have him in our lives. My daughter cooked a dinner for him (I just helped her when she needed me), he usually cooks for us because of our new life schedule. The dinner of choice was spaghetti, she did a great job. She is learning well from her dad (he is an amazing cook!) I picked up some balloons and the kids made cards. Over dinner we told him how glad we were that he has a "Gotcha Day" and that we got him. He is a wonderful man, amazing husband, loving and supportive father...We could not ask or hope for any man better in our lives. We are blessed to be able to celebrate him yet another time of the year outside of his Birthday and Father's Day.
